Get Things Done Without Always Having to Push Yourself

A weathered galvanized watering can resting on soil beside a row of young lettuce seedlings, warm golden light, with soft blurred purple and yellow flowers in the background.

Things can get done without you becoming another task to manage.

A seven-week small-group experience exploring what happens when pressure and self-criticism are no longer doing all the driving.

There are things you want to do. Things you need to do. Things that have been sitting on your list for far longer than you intended.

Perhaps you wait until the pressure becomes impossible to ignore, criticise yourself for not beginning sooner or push until the thing is finally done and you are completely drained. Perhaps your attention is pulled in several directions, or the list has become so large that choosing where to begin feels like another task.

You may have become used to believing this is simply how things get done.

This experience is an opportunity to explore whether that is really true. It gives you practical spaces to get on with things, alongside conversations where we can notice what happens when you are not constantly pushing, judging or trying to fix yourself.

Because things can still get done without you having to fight yourself through every one of them.

This is not another system to follow

You will not be handed a prescribed set of techniques to add to your mental to-do list, pressure yourself into following or judge yourself harshly for not doing properly.

Instead, we will experiment and explore, both individually and together.

You may discover a practical approach that helps. You may notice that distraction does not ruin everything, that something becomes clearer when the noise settles, or that an unfinished task does not say anything about who you are.

Nothing you discover needs to become a permanent rule. Because it is yours, you are allowed to change it, adapt it or leave it behind. What helps on one day may not be what you need on another.

What happens over the seven weeks

You will move through several different experiences with the same small group, with time to notice what happens both during the sessions and in ordinary life.

An opening conversation

We will begin by meeting one another and exploring what you are bringing into the experience.

You will not be asked to set rigid goals or make promises about what you will achieve. You may simply know that you want to begin things without so much dread, feel less overwhelmed by unfinished tasks or discover whether you really need to be so hard on yourself to keep life moving.

Two Bring Your To-Do List sessions

The Zoom room will be open for five hours, with gentle check-ins throughout. You can stay for the whole session or come and go around your day.

At each check-in, you will be invited to share what you would like to begin with next. When we return, we notice how it went and choose again.

Perhaps you completed the thing. Perhaps you became distracted, changed your mind or discovered that something else mattered more. There is no judgement and no need to justify what happened.

You can bring paid work, household tasks, life admin, personal or creative projects, or anything else you would like to give some time to.

One session will take place during the week and the other at the weekend. This is not to divide work from the rest of life, but to invite you to notice whether the different setting changes anything for you.

The Quiet Hour

You might use this hour to write, read, think, sit with a decision, attend to one quiet task or simply allow some room around something that has felt crowded.

You do not have to be good at silence, feel peaceful or make profound use of the time. It is simply an opportunity to notice what happens when you stop immediately pushing towards the next thing.

Just This Hour

Bring the one thing you keep meaning to do. We’ll start from there.

Perhaps there is a task you keep intending to begin but never quite start. Or perhaps there is simply something you would like to approach with even gentler momentum.

We will begin together, spend a manageable stretch of time with whatever we have brought, return briefly to the room and then begin again.

Your attention may wander. You may return, change direction or decide that the thing you brought is not where you want to begin after all. There is no requirement to complete it or stay with the same thing throughout.

For now, there is just this hour.

Two participant-only conversations

We will meet twice during the experience to talk about what we are noticing.

These are not accountability calls. You will not be asked to prove how productive you have been or report how many things you completed.

Instead, we may explore what happened when you began, paused, became distracted, changed direction or allowed some of the pressure to drop.

I will invite everyone to answer a question during these conversations so that each person has room to be part of the group. Your answer can be brief, and you will never be expected to disclose anything more personal than feels comfortable.

A closing conversation and celebration

We will finish by gathering to recognise and celebrate what happened during our time together.

This is not reserved for impressive results or completed lists. You may be celebrating that you began before the panic arrived, returned after becoming distracted without declaring the day a failure, or rested without spending the entire time criticising yourself.

Perhaps you discovered that pressure is not always necessary. Perhaps you stopped calling yourself lazy. Perhaps you realised you are allowed to change how you meet something depending on the day.

We will look back at what surprised you, what became easier and what you want to carry with you.

Your private Comfy Chair Session

Your place also includes one private 60-minute Comfy Chair Session with me.

You will receive a scheduling link and can book whenever it feels useful during the experience.

Something may arise in one of the group sessions that you want to explore more deeply, or you may want to bring something happening elsewhere in your life.

You do not need to wait for a major insight or know exactly what you want to discuss. It is simply an hour where the conversation can be entirely yours.

Your session can be booked during the seven weeks or within two weeks of our final gathering.

One more session when it would help

You will also receive a voucher for one future:

  • Bring Your To-Do List session
  • The Quiet Hour
  • Just This Hour

The voucher will be valid for three months after our closing gathering, subject to availability.

Perhaps one particular format spoke to you during the experience. Or perhaps sometime afterwards, you will simply recognise that one of these spaces is exactly what would make a difference in that moment.

You can return and join that session at no additional cost.

A small, consistent group

The experience is limited to 14 participants.

This keeps the practical sessions spacious while leaving room for everyone during our group conversations. Cameras will be optional during the working sessions.

You do not have to perform openness, productivity or progress. You can arrive as you are.

Seven weeks of space to do, notice and explore

Across the seven weeks, you will have 16 hours of live group space, including two full days to get on with the things in front of you, and one full week left completely open.

You will return to the same small group, have conversations where we can explore what you are noticing, and have your own private Comfy Chair Session for anything you want to take more deeply.

You will also have access to the recordings and a complimentary return session to use afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to attend every session?

The experience will be most valuable if you can attend most of the sessions, but you do not need to participate perfectly.

The Bring Your To-Do List days are designed so that you can come and go around your day.

Will the sessions be recorded?

Yes. The sessions will be recorded and the recordings will be made available privately to participants in this group.

Is this a productivity course?

No.

You will not be taught a particular system, routine or set of techniques. The different sessions give you spaces in which to experiment and notice what genuinely helps.

Anything you discover remains yours to adapt whenever you need.

What is the difference between this and attending an individual session?

Bring Your To-Do List, The Quiet Hour and Just This Hour will also be available separately as low-cost standalone experiences.

The full experience offers continuity. You remain with the same group, try several contrasting formats, talk about what you notice and have private space to explore anything that arises.

It is an opportunity to stay with the exploration for seven weeks rather than experience just one part of it.

What if I am still distracted or do not get much done?

You will not have failed.

The experience is not measured by the number of tasks you complete. Distraction, changing direction, pausing and discovering that something else needs your attention are all part of what there is to notice.

Meet practical life with a little less force

You do not need to become more disciplined, better organised or less human.

You do not need to remove every distraction, complete everything on your list or find one perfect approach that works forever.

There will still be things to do.

You are allowed to meet them as the person you already are.

The next experience begins on Monday 5 October 2026.
