When I started this gentle momentum experiment on Monday, I thought I was simply committing to writing seven LinkedIn posts. I didn’t expect it to lead here.
So here’s what I’m doing on Tuesday afternoon. I’m bringing my to-do list, finding a quiet spot and getting on with a few things.
Let’s see what happens when we meet the list with a little less pressure and a little more company. You’re welcome to join me.
At the beginning of each hour, we’ll gather briefly on Zoom and choose what we’d like to begin with. Not what we should do first. Not necessarily the most urgent, sensible or impressive thing on the list. Just the thing we’d like to begin with now.
Then we’ll head off and get on with it in whatever way works for us. You can leave Zoom, stay quietly connected or move somewhere else entirely.
At the beginning of the next hour, we’ll come back together, see what happened and choose what we’d like to move next.
Perhaps you’ll finish exactly what you intended. Perhaps you’ll make a small dent in it. Perhaps the hour will disappear and absolutely none of it will happen.
That’s allowed too.
No awkward accountability, no need to explain yourself and no proving how productive you can be. Just a little structure, some good company and another opportunity to begin again.
I won’t be sitting on the sidelines watching everybody else work. I’ll be in it too, making my own way through my list and discovering what happens as the afternoon unfolds.
